History

Below is a brief chronological history of Old Manorian's Football Club

2009:: David Smith stands down as chairman. Marvin Blake is elected in by commitee (David Smith has been with OMFC for 24 seasons now!)

Seventh XI formed; provisionally formed for friendlies (First fixture away to Brent IV 21.11.2009)

2008:: Second XI, managed by Marvin Blake, reach the AFA Middlesex/Essex Intermediate Cup, but are beaten 4-1 by a strong Meadonian's reserve side.

(Goalscorers:: R. Moore)

Fifth XI, managed by Tony Walsh, reach the Western Spring Cup Final, but are beaten 5-4

(Goalscorers:: Peeples (Pen), Bourne, Elder and Edwards)

2007:: Fifth XI, managed by Roy Marrott, win LOB Nemeon Cup, after beating beat Fulham Compton 2s 3-1

(Goalscorers:: Maple (2), J McFarlaine). The Fifth XI also won the League (3 West), completeing an historic double!

The Fifth XI also reach the AFA Senior Novets Cup Final, but are beaten 4-3 on Penalties, after drawing 1-1 AET

1975:: First XI promoted to Premier Division for the fourth time and reached semi-final of the L.O.B. Cup for the fifth time.

Arnold Bane’s 11th season on the Committee, last five as Match Secretary. 25th Anniversary, dinner-dance.

1974:: Clive Hamilton played his 500th game for OMFC. Fifth XI formed to play friendly matches.

1971:: OMFC staged 21st Anniversary dinner-dance. No Easter Tour for the first time in eight years, but re-instated in 1972.

1970:: Ray Grice played his 500th game for 0.M.F.C.

1969:: New pavilion at Sudbury Avenue, Wembley used for the first time: the wooden “shack” changing rooms were pulled down and burned.

1967:: Fourth XI re-entered O.B.F.L.

1966:: Alan “Wilf” Holmes retired after serving 12 consecutive years on the Committee, last six as Chairman. Fourth XI re-formed to play friendly matches.

1965:: Alan Grove retired after 12 consecutive years as Treasurer.

1964:: First Easter Tour - four friendly matches played in Margate Football Festival.

1963:: Mike Green became the first 0MFC captain of O.B.F.L. Representative Team. The 1962-63 season’s programme was unfinished because of heavy snow.

1961:: Fourth XI disbanded through lack of players.

1960:: Second XI reached final of L.O.B. Junior Cup losing 2-3 to Westhamians Res. after two bouts of extra time - the longest final on record & the first final tie ever reached by OMFC in any cup.

Fourth XI entered O.B.F.L.

1958:: "Hewitson Cup" donated for Boxing Day games with Old Alpertonians.

(The two clubs played each other on Boxing Day for 40 years after meeting in a league match on 26.12.1950)

1959:: Len Gayler retired as Chairman and Club Captain after six consecutive years. Fourth XI formed to play friendlies.

1957:: Third XI entered O.B.F.L.

1956:: First XI promoted to Premier Division for first time. Third XI formed to play friendly matches.

1954:: First XI reached semi-final of L.0.B.Cup for first time.

1952:: Second XI entered O.B.F.L. after two seasons of friendly matches.

1950:: After a number of unrecorded friendly games in 1949-50, OMFC fielded its first Old Boys’ Football League side on 21 October, beating Old Alpertonians 3-2 at Vale Farm.

Goal scorers in 1950-51 were not recorded.

The Second Xl’s first recorded match on 11 November was a friendly which they won 1-2 away against Old Isleworthians.

1938:: Official opening of Preston Manor County School (01.03.1938)
